The Shoot & Share Contest 2017

eeeek! I’m posting this… even though it might seem like I am bragging, but really… I’m just so encouraged and I wanted to share! And I’m thankful, too! I’m so thankful to all my friends and clients who have trusted me & my camera to capture their special moments ❤

So, here’s a little background information:
The Shoot & Share Photo Contest is a free & fair photo contest.
You can enter up to 50 photos in 25 different categories.
Anyone can enter photos, and it’s totally free!
No one knows who took the photos, but anyone can vote.
The photos with the most votes win!
This year, there were 332,768 images entered by photographers all over the world!

Each round (there are 12 rounds) narrowed it down until

the winners were apparent (the ones with the most votes)…

There were a few ways, throughout the contest,
for the photographers to know that one of their images was still in…
anyone who votes could ALSO ‘favourite’ the images that they liked the most…
we were able to see our ❤ ‘s going up…
what an encouragement to get even one more it definitely had the potential to get obsessive though, refreshing the page to see if your ❤ ‘s had gone up
(I never did that, of course… I just think others ‘may’ have 😉 ).
Another way to know if you were still in the contest is that you might get to

see your own image while you were voting!! One time, Locklyn was voting

with me and one of our shots came up in the selection of four…
and THEN… HE VOTED FOR THE WRONG ONE!
hahaha… He didn’t even vote for my shot!
SO, submissions were in January, and voting started on Feb.1 and went through to March 3.
It takes awhile to narrow down that many images!! And then finally… the results were released… they did it slowly, announcing the top 20 for each category
and down until the #1 images for each category were announced.
Now, I didn’t actually WIN anything… haha.
BUT… that doesn’t even matter!
To have images that continued through the rounds and to see
the other amazing images that they were running up against…
it was humbling and honestly, made me want to work even harder to be creative!If you’ve made it through my ramblings and explanations…
congratulations! haha… And so, without further ado…
let me share some of the stats on the images that I entered into the contest!

The “FINALIST” images are the ones that made into the top 3.5% out of ALL the images that were submitted. They made it to the 12th round!
